BUBBLE PLAY STRATEGIES
The “bubble” in tournament play is when there is a significant pay jump, and if you bust out before it you will not make the money, or as much money.
Players usually will tighten up significantly around the bubble, which allows aggressive players to pick up pots and “chip up” during this period.
LOOSEN UP ON THE BUBBLE
Begin by playing slightly more aggressive on money bubbles, and final table bubbles.
This is especially important to begin implementing when you reach these stages of the tournament with 30 big blinds or more.
“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.”
Raise before the flop with a wider range of hands.
Always continue bet.
Try throwing in a double barrel bluff every now and then when your continue bet gets called.
3-bet your opponents before the flop as a bluff more often, and continue bet on the flop when called.
BE CAREFUL, BUT KEEP UP AGGRESION
When you are on the bubble, you don’t want to do anything crazy just because it is the bubble and you want to be aggressive.
It is important to cash in the tournament. However you should always try to be more aggressive than usual on bubbles in order to take advantage of your opponents tight play.
This technique can help to chip up and put yourself in position to win the tournament.
