$25k Challenge – Final Week

Our final week of the challenge didn’t go terribly, but we fell short of our goal as well as the bet we made by $6,800.

Final week of the trip was profitable but we ultimately fell short of the $25k goal.

It was a super tough last week, with lots of deep runs in big tournaments. Unfortunately none of the big ones quite panned out for us in the end.

Aside from winning a number of smaller field tournaments for ~1k each, I got a back-to-back 10th and 6th in “The Big $40″ and Tom got 7th in “The Big $27″ over the weekend. Both are signature daily events on PokerStars. Sunday was more of the same, with Tom making a deep run in “The Bigger $50″ but finishing in 30th place where winner took over $35,000.

We did manage to eek out close to $2k in profits if there was any silver lining to a long and frustrating week.

We’re happy to have profited every week during this trip, even in the last two weeks where we were playing higher stake tournaments and not winning them. We setup our bankroll and game selection strategy as well as put in a lot of hours to try and ensure this.

Our total profits on the month were just over $13,000.

We’ll be staying down here another week or so, before heading back to the states for about a month. Then we’ll be leaving the country in September again just in time for the WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker).

Fading El Chapo

We took the last few days off and just hung out on the beach and at the pool. We had a fire a few nights ago and drank all night with some friends we’ve met along the way. Then last night we met up with some people at Doce Lunas for happy hour, then everyone rolled to The Green Room for live music and chili guaros until no one could remember anything.

All in all it was a great trip, and it’s definitely reminded us as to how much money there is in even low stakes online poker still. Since that likely won’t be changing anytime soon, we’ll be back playing shortly, and hopefully take down some of these huge tournaments that we have been barely missing on lately.
